The Writer

I grew up in Florida, but now live far away–which is probably why my stories are set there. Now, I’m a married mother of one and teaching English as a Second Language as my day job.

In my single days I finished graduate school and joined the Peace Corps. And since writing my first poems at eight years old, I’ve wanted to write (but no more poetry).

My mother was an artist, though she was a fast typist to pay the bills, and ever since she put a kindergarten collage of mine in a frame, I’ve wanted to make art. I can’t choose between the the art and the writing, and so have ended up doing this–making art of my novels and making my novels for my art.

I’m curious about who your target audience is with this story. The plot is most intriguing, and the characters are as well.

Kim, that is the question. Well, not young readers. I was thinking, sort of, of the people who liked David Lynch’s Twin Peaks, whoever they are… But thanks for asking the question because I probably need to think more about it.

I sort of think art and writing go hand in hand. I know a lot of people who do both. I do. You do. That’s a lot, right?

I kid, I kid … I have a page on deviantART, and I know many of the writers there do both. I think creative people find creative outlets. I make book covers and preview images for my stories and serials, but I can draw too. (Well, it depends on who you ask and what you consider “drawing”, but still.)

So the two together seem natural to me. And I’ve enjoyed Lake Belle so far.

Thanks, DarcKynt. I’m glad we’ve met.
