The Characters
Paul Radcliff. A grocery store manager, 40, and about to get married for the first time. Like any man worth knowing, his past is filled with surprises. He made his first appearance in a novel at when he was 16.
Mercie Winters. The grocery store assistant manager. College drop-out, but always curious and hoping to move on. She’s had an entire novel dedicated to her.
Linnie Hoffman. The best sidekick. The proof? She’s been the best friend in two novels. Which is fine with her because she doesn’t care about being the center of attention. She’s 19 and recently single.
Zane Fairfield. The mysterious love interest of our heroine. He comes from a place he won’t explain and his mother ruins everything.
Mrs. Fairfield. Zane’s mother. She believes there is no girl her son can love, and she does her best to prove it.
Josephine Winters. Mercie adoptive mother–a fact she never lets Mercie forget. Josie can’t shake the feeling that her daughter, whose birth mother was a prostitute, is damaged goods and responsible for the family’s lost inheritance.
